A documentary can provide a starting point for a political discussion without exhausting the subject. CinEast is bringing the two together on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at neimënster: a screening of Not Made for Politics, by Volia Chajkouskaya, will be followed by a debate devoted to Belarus.

From women’s journeys to public discussion

According to the festival’s description, the director follows the journeys of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Nadzeya and Masha, while also reflecting on her own experience of exile. The film, a 2025 production involving Estonia, France and the United States, runs for 90 minutes. The listing specifies English subtitles and an age rating of 15 and over.

Two announced participants

The page devoted to the film debates lists Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, described by the festival as the leader of Belarusian democratic forces, as well as Luxembourg politician Paul Galles. It announces a discussion about the democratic movement, the place of women and the role of documentary cinema in resistance.

To prepare for the exchange, a question proposed by LETZVIEW could serve as a guiding thread: what can a personal journey help us understand, and which collective questions remain open after the film?

The date to note

The screening starts at 19:30 in the Robert Krieps room. The debate follows the screening; the stated 90 minutes therefore do not represent the total length of the evening. The film listing provides access to ticket sales. Availability of places and the language of the discussion have not been confirmed on the pages consulted. The announced English subtitles are for the film.
