Seventy-three goals for Bayern and England, followed by the Ballon d’Or in London: Harry Kane won the men’s award on 26 October 2026. At 33, he finished ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal and became the first Englishman to win it since Michael Owen in 2001, according to the UEFA roll of honour.
Two awards, two readings of the season
Kane also received the Gerd Müller Trophy for the season’s top scorer, as FC Bayern confirms in its report. This award comes in addition to the Ballon d’Or; it should not be confused with it.
UEFA cites, in particular, a total of 73 goals for his club and national team during the 2025–2026 campaign. This figure covers two teams and all competitions, not just the German league. The same record notes his fourteen goals in the Champions League, a competition in which Bayern reached the semi-finals.
Three Frenchmen in the top ten
Behind the Kane–Mbappé–Yamal podium, the men’s rankings published by UEFA place Rodri fourth and Lionel Messi fifth. Ousmane Dembélé finished seventh and Michael Olise ninth: together with Mbappé, they make three Frenchmen in the top ten.
The awards also recognise a collective achievement: Paris Saint-Germain receives the men’s club of the year award. This distinction recognises the club, alongside the individual trophies.
A return awaited in Munich since 1981
For Bayern, Kane follows Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the roll of honour, the club’s last player to win it forty-five years earlier. The club also explains how the vote works: journalists select ten names from a list of thirty candidates, in order of preference.
