A technology project that still needs testing has different needs from a young business ready to commercialise its product. Technoport distinguishes between these two situations in its pre-incubation and incubation programmes. For a founder, the first question is therefore how far their project has progressed.
Four months to put the concept to the test
Pre-incubation is aimed at individuals or small teams looking to validate a concept that combines technology and innovation. Technoport offers a four-month programme, with free access to its shared workspace and in-house expertise.
Support may cover the business plan, feasibility study, research project or proof of concept. This work addresses a practical question: what still needs to be established before the business can be developed? The free access announced applies to the resources described by the incubator; it does not mean that all the company’s expenses are covered.
A different offer to launch and develop the business
Incubation is aimed in particular at deep-tech startups whose business concept has been validated, and at small businesses ready to grow. Admission is subject to selection. Access to facilities, support and the network is based on a monthly contribution, the amount of which is not given on the page consulted.
Technoport gives timeframes of three to five years for software projects and six to eight years for industrial projects. These are durations offered by the programme, with no guarantee that any particular application will be accepted.
Preparing for a useful first conversation
Before contacting the team, the editorial team recommends gathering details of tests already carried out, remaining uncertainties and the project’s equipment needs. A demonstrated prototype, feedback from a potential customer and a need for premises point to different stages.
The first conversation can then focus on suitable support and its conditions, rather than solely on finding an office. Availability and the arrangements applicable to each application should be checked with Technoport.
