Food collection in Creuse: making useful donations from 6 to 8 November

What products are needed, how donations are handled and how to volunteer: what to know before the collection announced at more than thirty shops in Creuse.

A food donation often starts with adding a product to your basket. To be useful, it must also be something that charities can store, transport and distribute. The collection announced in Creuse from 6 to 8 November 2026 offers a close look at how this works: the trolleys set up at shop exits are only the first link in the chain.

These dates were confirmed by the national announcement published on 3 November by the Food Banks. The event applies across France; local arrangements should be checked with the departmental team. In Creuse, ICI’s report of 30 October announces a drive at more than thirty shops, without providing a detailed list of their collection times on that page.

Give what is needed, not just what is on offer

The national list focuses on products that are easy to store: tinned vegetables, fish or ready meals, starchy foods and pulses, oil, flour, sugar and breakfast products. It also includes baby and hygiene products. So the collection is about more than packets of pasta.

This variety makes it worth asking the volunteers on site a simple question: which products are the priority here? ICI’s report from Creuse mentions coffee, oil and chocolate products among the stated needs. A list provided on site is more precise than a general idea of what might be useful.

You do not need to put together a complete parcel on your own to take part. The announced approach is to leave one or more products with the collection teams. Each person’s contribution joins a shared stock, which will then be sorted. The national announcement and products needed.

From the trolley to the warehouse and charities

According to the information published by ICI Creuse, the products are transported to the warehouse in Saint-Sulpice-le-Guérétois. There, they are sorted, stored and then distributed among partner charities, taking into account the people they support. So leaving a donation at a shop does not mean handing it directly to its recipient.

Transport is an essential part of this process. In the rural department described in the report, distances affect both the organisation and the costs. The time spent receiving, moving and distributing products is also part of food aid, even if it is less visible than the volunteers’ presence in shops. ICI Creuse’s report.

This process explains why choosing the right product and following the collection guidance go hand in hand. A useful donation must be able to fit into an existing organisation; local teams are best placed to clarify their needs and constraints.

Three days of action, activity all year round

The national announcement estimates that the collection accounts for around 9 % of the network’s annual supplies. This figure describes its place in the overall activity, not the result already achieved in November 2026. It also shows that food aid does not rely on this weekend alone.

The Creuse Food Bank’s website places its premises in the Le Clocher industrial estate, in Saint-Sulpice-le-Guérétois. It describes work with charities and municipal social action centres, and offers volunteering opportunities near Guéret. Its activity figures are not accompanied by a clearly stated year on the homepage: they do not make it possible to establish a recent change in needs.

To offer your time, contacting the team will help clarify the task and availability required. Collecting in shops, sorting at the warehouse and organising the flow of goods are different ways to contribute. Information and contacts for the Creuse Food Bank.

Check before setting off

The national dates do not guarantee a presence in every shop on all three days. Before making a special trip, it is best to check the collection point and its opening times with the local organisation or the shop concerned.

For those who cannot take part in person, the national announcement points to Mon Panier Solidaire. This is a financial donation to buy products that meet identified needs, rather than a physical donation of a basket. The choice between products, time and a financial contribution depends on what each person can offer. The most useful information remains the same: knowing what the local team needs, where and when.
